The Story Of the Adventure Racing History Project.

The AR history page.

The AR History project is born out of the realisation that we may still be able to recover the full history of Adventure Racing before some of the earlier details fade into the past. The sport began in the late 1980's but only a few events occured such as the Alaska Mountain and Wilderness Classic and then the first true adventure race, The Raid Gaulloise. We hope that you will add your knowledge of AR so that we can build a comprehensive history. No single organiser or sanctioning body has existed so nobody has the full picture of Adventure Racing. The sport is so intriguing, pure and attractive to all races, creeds and countries that it quickly spread around the world. The hope is that we still have interested competitors who will fill out their information and that of their teammates. If you are reading this you are one of the people who we hope will contribute information. Fill out your own details in 'People' and the teams and events that you were on. Then add teammates to those teams. If you were part of an adventure racing 'Group', whether formal or informal, add that group and as many of it's members as you can.

The three ways you can be of most help in building a full history of the sport of Adventure Racing are ....
People you raced with probably raced with others and by connecting all the relationships we can build the full history.
Prolific, successful and long time racers will probably hear about the Adventure Racing History Project and update their information. Teammates who only raced once or twice or retired from the sport a long time ago will prove to be the most important to motivate to add their information. Please do encourage them.

It was never easy to see who raced on which team or which events. Finally we will be able to see who raced on which team and which event.

There are a lot of costs involved in putting the site together so if you feel able to donate please do so.
